The award-winning visionary musician, producer and music writer is more than competent despite his lack of sight. Cobhams owns a recording label CAMS – Cobhams Asuquo Music Production where he is CEO and Head of Productions.
Cobhams has formerly been signed to Sony Publishing in London. He is now in a deal with Universal Music Publishing. He has written and co-written hit songs, including Asa’s singles Jailer and Fire on the Mountain from the internationally acclaimed album that he also produced.
Known for producing some of Nigerians finest songs and albums, he had worked at Questionmark Entertainment as Head of Audio Production for quite some time before he left to start his own stable.
He has also worked with Bez Idakula, Stan Iyke, Banky W, Omuwami, Waje, Timi Dakolo, Dare, Art- Alade among others.
He has always been interested in music since childhood and he used to enjoy playing the twelve-bar blues. He has always had an ardent ear for music since his younger days and loved to drum anything and everything. A friend who saw his interest in music gave him a toy piano. He plays the piano and guitar although nobody in his family plays an instrument or does music.
He has been nominated in a number of awards and won most including Nigeria’s awards: The Headies (2014), where he won Best Recording.
He was featured on CNN African Voices and BBC News to speak on his career as a blind and successful music producer.
He is a professionally trained lawyer, which he practiced up until he took music, his first love, full time.
He was born blind and could stop at nothing but be the best at what he does.
