Yemi Eberechi Alade, simply known as Yemi Alade is a Nigerian artist. She mainly sings Afro pop and R&B and has described her music as Afropolitan. Yemi is popularly known internationally for her hit ‘Johnny’ released in 2013. The song is about a search for a cheating lover and she has even sang a French version. She has won several awards including Best Female Artist at the City People Awards in 2013.

Yemi Alade grew up listening to popular music of the late eighties and early nineties. She draws her inspiration from Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Etta James and Aretha Franklin. If given the chance, Yemi would like to do a collaboration with P Square and Nicki Minaj.

Yemi began singing in her church choir at twelve years old, where she was also exposed to singing and dancing competitions. Yemi Alade started music professionally in 2005, where she was the leader of a girl group called ‘Noty Spices’. Her big break came in 2009 when she entered the maiden edition of the Peak Talent Show and ended up wining the competition for her exemplary singing and performance.

Yemi’s advice to upcoming artists is to put God first in everything that they do, and that Rome was not built in one day.

Yemi describes herself as different, original, rebellious and as a king (yes king)!

Other than music, Yemi is a degree holder; she is a Bacheor of Science in Geography graduate.
