The Kenyan musician Bahati makes history as the first gospel artistes to grace Coke Studio Africa. On the fourth season of the show, he collaborates with one of Nigeria’s fastest rising young stars: Kiss Daniel. The chart-topping Mama, Machozi and Wangu featuring Mr. Seed are among his most successful releases.

CAREER

Bahati is undoubtedly one of Kenya’s fastest rising musicians in the entertainment industry. He won hearts of many fans and received the coveted award for Best Male Artist Groove Awards - Kenya’s most prestigious gospel award ceremony barely seven months since his entry into the music industry. He has also won an award for Best Gospel Act Africa at the AFRIMMA Awards, among others.

MUSIC INTERESTS

In 2010, he participated in the Kenya’s national high school music festival while playing the guitar. His journey in music would kickoff in 2013 with the release of his first single and video: Siku ya Kwanza. His breakthrough however landed when he won a Groove Award in 2013. He also runs his recording studio: EMB Records, which mainly supports music talent from slum areas.

BACKGROUND

Orphaned at a young age, Bahati ended up living at ABC Children’s Home in Mathare. Bahati’s interest in arts started at a young age. He made his entry into arts through reciting Swahili poetry in school and church. Since making it big in music, Bahati has also ventured into social work. He continues to run a project that supports disabled children in Kenya’s Komarock settlement.
