This tall and lanky musician from Ghana calls himself a superstar. E.L is a multiple award-winning rapper, singer and producer whose music is at home in the club and when chilling at home. He is well known for tunes like Shelele, Mi Naa Bo Po, Koko, Obuu Mo, Kaalu, and One Ghana. He produces most of his own hits but has also lent his magic to musicians like Sarkodie. E.L now has his sights set on conquering the international arena, and has already performed in Nigeria, New York, DC, South Africa and several times in the UK.
In 2012, EL was nominated for Most Gifted Newcomer at the Channel O Music Video Awards. A few years later in 2015, he won the Best Rapper of The Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and received an accolade for Best Edited and Best Special Effects videos at the 45YTE TV Music Video Awards. 2016 has been a good year, with E.L already bagging five awards including Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, Afropop Song of the Year, Hip Life Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
E.L shot to the limelight after pioneering the Azonto dance craze, which originates from a traditional Ghana dance called Kpanlogo. He has released two albums - his first being a masterpiece titled Something Else, and the second self-titled offering called ELOM. E.L is also a force to reckon when it comes to his YouTube viewership which averages 2.4 million visits every week.
Born Elom Adablah, E.L grew up in Dansoman, Ghana. He first attended St. Martin De Porres School where he excelled as a top student. He later gained admission to the Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School, where he discovered his musical talent but pursued a degree in economics and political science at the University of Ghana. He says about his musical talent: “I got it from my mama”.
