The Kansoul is a Kenyan Afro-pop and genge group known for popular club hits Moto Wa Kuotea Mbali, Mabega and Tunakubali featuring Timmy Tdat. Comprising Mejja, Kid Kora and Madtraxx, their first single Dabo Tap released in 2014 shot through the roof and cemented their presence as an upcoming group to watch. As they make their debut on Coke Studio Africa season 4 this year, the trio is also set to release their first album, Utamu wa Life (The Good Life) towards the end of the year.

The Kansoul made a mark in the music industry even before their second year, success that can be credited to a well-collaborated effort by the three musical geniuses. Despite just starting out together, they have been nominated for local awards including the Pulse Music Video Awards and Mdundo Music Awards. In 2016, they received an award for Artist of the Year at the Bingwa Awards. Their tracks have topped the Kenyan and Ugandan music charts, and made waves during performances in the US and the UK.

The Kansoul derive their musical influences from singers that represent a wide spectrum of music styles, including Nameless, Juacali, AKA, Casper Nyovest, Fally Ipupa, Chege, Chameleone and American rapper Jay Z.

The Kansoul was formed in Nairobi in 2014. All its members were successful solo artistes before deciding to join forces, a move that elevated their careers and drew more fans. Member Madtraxx is also a renowned producer who produces for The Kansoul, and acts as one of the music producers on this season of Coke Studio Africa.
