Sauti Sol is an award-winning afro pop group from Kenya made up by Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Austin Chimano, Polycarp Otieno and Savara Mudigi. The East African Artists of the Year (2016 Bingwa Awards) and Best African Group at African Muzik Magazine Awards (2015 AFRIMMA), the group has also won an MTV EMA Award for Best African Act in 2014. This year, Sauti Sol made history by being the first Kenyan artistes to run a successful nationwide tour. The Live and Die in Afrika tour drew out thousands of fans in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Meru, Mombasa and Kisumu.



Sauti Sol’s discography includes a 2012 self-titled collaborative EP with South African avant-garde innovative rapper/producer Spoek Mathambo. Their three albums, namely Mwanzo (2008), Sol Filosofia (2011) and Live and Die in Afrika (2015) have received high acclaim on Kenyan charts and gained international attention, including US President Barack Obama mentioning the fact that their hit track Sura Yako has influenced American pop culture.





Sauti Sol mix their soulful voices with vocal harmonies, guitar riffs and Kenyan drum rhythms. The band blend warm pop grooves with traditional Kenyan influences. Their mélange of energetic music has promoted them to become one of Africa’s celebrated and East Africa’s pioneers of a fresh sound that has inspired the start of many other bands in the region.




Bien Aime, Chimano, Polycarp and Savara all met in high school. They began singing together and kept at it until their dreams were realized, and are still being realized. They steadily built their professional international experience by touring Africa, Europe and the US soon after breaking into the music industry in 2006. In 2016, their notable live performances include at Swaziland’s Bushfire Festival, Mozambique’s Azgo Festival and at 2baba’s Disruption Africa Kenyan concert. 2015’s notable showcases included a performance at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival alongside international acts Pearl Jam and Chris Martin (Coldplay), performing at the Milan Expo 2015, a 2015 #SautiSolRoad2BET American Tour (Washington, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Seattle, Dallas, New Jersey and Los Angeles), headlining at 2015 Kigali Up Festival, Sauti Sol Live in Kampala Concert, Sauti Sol Live in Dar es Salaam (Party in the Park 2015), Las Vegas Sauti Sol Valentines Show at the Hard Rock Café, Kenya’s Koroga Festival, Tanzania’s Jembeka Party and Dubai’s Industry Nite, among others.
