Vanessa Mdee is East Africa’s top female artiste and a respected style icon. The Tanzanian sweetheart is the undisputed queen of East African pop. What drives her passion remains a mystique. She has previously collaborated with 2Baba (Nigeria) on the third season of Coke Studio Africa. At the verge of releasing her anticipated debut album “Money Mondays”, Vee returns to Coke Studio Africa season 4 paired with Nigerian dancehall artiste Patoranking.
After the sudden death of her father she decided to follow her dreams participating in MTV Base’s VJ search in Tanzania making her TZ’s first MTV VJ. Before deciding to settle on her music career, Vanessa was a top media personality juggling in radio, TV and the red carpet. Through her career as a media personality she has met and interacted various international stars like French Montana and Jay Z.
Celebrated for her string of successful singles and music videos with a crossover appeal, Vanessa also boasts one of the largest online followings amongst African celebrities. Born Vanessa Hau Mdee, the vibrant young East African girl knew that she meant to be part of the music industry honing her skills from a tender age. Born to a journalist turned diplomat father, Vanessa got to be part of various art scenes in Paris, Nairobi and her hometown Arusha. She is also into social and charitable work, having worked with among organizations: Staying Alive Foundation and ONE Mission. In 2013, Mdee was invited to speak at the World Economic Forum for Africa in Cape Town, South Africa.
