Dji Tafhina popularly known as ‘The Executive Rapper’ is an award-winning singer, songwriter and producer from Angola. Crowned as one of the most influential artistes by Platina Line (Angola), his musical style distinctively blends rap, R&B, zouk and alternative rock. With a music career spanning over a decade, Dji continues to earn critical recognition. His stellar track “Imperfeito” won the Single of the Year at the Angola Hip Hop Awards (2016). He has already clinched nominations in six categories of this year’s edition of the awards ceremony.

In 2016, Dji made history with his album Filho Da Victoria that sold its special edition 500 copies in a record 20 minutes, further proof of his grand stature. His latest album features his former arch nemesis Kid MC. On Coke Studio Africa 2017, Dji is paired alongside Tanzania’s rising star Rayvanny.


Dji started his professional music career in 2008 with the launch of “Ela So Da Bandeira”. In 2014, he got recognized as the Most Loved Artiste in Angola. His songs have won the hearts of music fans in Angola and even abroad in countries like Portugal, Mozambique and Brazil. He has gone on to amass a number of awards including Best Collaboration and Best Video Clip for “Vou –Te Dar” featuring Ary and Nelson Freitas.

Dji is also a producer extraordinaire having crafted songs for Anselmo Ralph, Ary, Yola Semedo, Yola Araújo, Zona 5, Big Nelo and Bruna Tatiana. He has also collaborated with top Angolan artistes including NGA and Anselmo Ralph. In 2015, the renowned artiste was one of the mentors on the Angola version of international music show, The Voice Angola.


Dji’s style is influenced by the likes of Coldplay, Eminem, Kanye West, Jay Z, Linkin Park and Paulo Flores. He heads one of the best music production labels in Angola, Galaxia Records and Galaxia Films. His label Galaxia also produces clothes marketed in Angola and for his fans worldwide.


Dji Tafinha was born as Dji Carvalho Júnior in the city of Lucapa, Angola in 1986. At only 12 years, he started nurturing his rapping skills, kicking off his music journey. He is married to Erica Vaz Raposo, to whom he dedicated his most popular hit “Imperfeito” and the couple is blessed with two children.
