Yared is one of the leading voices among Ethiopia’s emerging generation of pop artists, transcending genres and regional limitations with the aim of pushing Ethiopian music towards more global recognition. The “Adimera” hit maker has gained notoriety as a talented dancer and singer, and is known for high-energy stage performances. Yared will be making his debut on Coke Studio Africa 2019, paired alongside fast rising Ugandan singer King Saha, with their music collaborations engineered by top record producer Daddy Andre (Uganda).
Yared’s musical ascent can be traced back to 2015 when he released his first single ‘’Yebelegn’’. He then released his follow up single “Yemerkato Arada” in 2017, which gained massive airplay in Ethiopia and beyond. The heartthrob has gone on to release eight singles since then. They include ‘’Zelelaye’’, ‘’Hulumu Agere’’ and ‘’Chemere’’— all appreciated for unique, eye-catching visuals. Yared is currently working on his much anticipated debut album. Over the years, he has courted success earning recognition and winning accolades such as Best Single of the Year Award at the 9th Addis Music Awards.
Having performed widely in Ethiopia, Europe and the Middle East, Yared’s singing and dancing skills make for captivating showcases on stage. Away from music, he is also feted for his humanitarianism and devotion to supporting children living on the streets among other social and charitable causes.
Yared Negu was born and raised in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. Long before the fame and good repute kicked in, Yared Negu was a dancer for popular local groups Kemise and Hahu. He later joined Ras Theatre, which piqued his musical interest and paved the way for a singing career.
